The two tier trap. What is it? How to avoid it!
This is possibly one of the most important pages on this website. Read this carefully,
because if you understand this page and learn its lesson you may save yourself a
lot of time in the future.
As we have discussed, there are two ways of making money from two tier affiliate
programs. Just to recap.
1. By selling the product and recieving comission on the sale.
2. By signing up new affiliates to the program and recieving a comission every time
they make a sale.
The first of these methods is exactly the same as in one tier affiliate programs.
The second of these methods is responsible for more lost hours in network marketing
than any other single cause.
Allow me to tell you why.
Like most people you can be forgiven if you grinned when you read about the second
tier, you may even have had visions of yourself surrounded by piles of money. Don't
worry though, you are one of the lucky ones because you are about to learn about
the two tier trap.
Many people have become obsessed with the idea of signing up new affiliates to a
two tier program so that they can benefit from the work their 'first tier' does.
This seems like a great idea, yet it is not. If you sell the idea of becoming an
affiliate to someone they will probably never sell a single unit of the product.
People are more likely to think, 'wow, this person is onto a good thing, i'm not
actually going to sell the product, i'm going to sell the affiliate program!'
This is human nature. The two tier trap has been set, and you just may be its next
victim.
As soon as this person signs up another affiliate you have just become the third
tier, which is not rewarded in a two tier system, and none of the affiliates you
signed up have sold a single product, so you have invested all this time and have
got nothing.
Thus THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSONs in network marketing are:-
1. You WILL make money by selling the product.
2. You WILL NOT make money by selling the affiliate program.
The two tier trap simply creates long chains of affiliates who ultimately get 'tiered
out' of the system. But this doesn't even matter, because no-one has sold a single
product anyway! So hopefully now you won't fall into this trap.
But wait, i hear some of you ask, 'Why are you telling us that two tier affiliate
programs are better than single tier programs?'
The answer is that you should never allow yourself to get distracted by the second
tier, to do so will mean you get caught in the two tier trap, however the second
tier can make a lot of money for you. You are more likely to sign up affiliates
THAT WILL ACTUALLY SELL PRODUCTS FOR YOU, by selling the product throught your website.
Why? Because people look at similar sites to their own, or even competitors sites
for ideas about affiliate programs. If they click through your site to the affiliate
program and sign up, you are now the second tier. Bingo.
This is why two tier programs are so much better than single tier affiliate programs.
Because by simply selling the product through your site, you will probably sign
up a few affilates from whom you will benefit because they are actually selling
products.
The second tier should only ever be considered the sweetner in the deal, and never
the whole deal itself.
So there we go. I can't stress how important this page is in saving you time and
effort in return for nothing. Make sure you understand this page before you move
on and please don't get caught in the two tier trap.
